I created a prototype to test the format, binding and inclusion of QR codes.
Originally, I was going to have the QR codes on smaller pieces of white paper, in between the main pages, but I found that the book was already quite bulky and the needle struggled to go through so this would not be suitable. It also covered part of the barcodes, which didn't work as well.
Instead, I printed the most successful QR code on sticky paper and stuck on the inside back cover instead, as this did not affect the feel of the book, and concluded the data at the end.
I found the Stab binding method suitable for the booklet, as the stitching made the book more tactile, and provided texture, as well as linking in with the black elements and type. The folded pages had a nice feel which linked to the packaging structures with the folded edges, and the cut out areas created texture and definition to the timeline.
I was pleased with the positioning and composition of the elements on each page, and the barcode which covered two pages also matched up well, and emphasised the amount of deliveries on that day.
I printed to the same scale as the final book will be, so I am reassured that printing on A3 will provide a suitable size once folded and cut out.
